Catch Up With the Kandangama’s!

Here’s the latest from Nish and Kristin in Sri Lanka:

Dear friends & family,

Happy New Year from our family to yours!

2022 Christmas Program Highlights

Christmas is always our favorite time of year and this year was up there with the best of them. We pulled out all the stops in our gift-giving and hampers thanks to the generosity of those of you who support us. We had one event at our extension program at Uda Peradeniya. There we have 75 kids who put on an amazing Christmas show with singing, dancing, and drama. We also blessed their families with food hampers that totaled 45 packages.

The Bud Centre celebrated in a big way too. It was so big in fact we had to take it to our sports ground next to the Centre to accommodate everyone. The kids amazed us with great performances put on for family, friends, and visitors. We had well over 100 in the audience. We gifted these kids, as well as the Uda Peradeniya, with our first ever Bud Centre t-shirt. We gifted a total of 125 kids and distributed 95 food hampers at this event.

Finally Christmas Day we had a very special Christmas Day program at church with lots of special items from the Sunday school kids and youth. Our Uncle from Canada, who has ministered in Sri Lanka for years, was with us. He preached the Word and dedicated our precious Kyla on Christmas Day.

Staff – Thought we’d introduce you to our staff and share a little something about each of them. We are thankful for them. Without them, our centre would not be as successful as it is. They all bring their God-given talents and hearts for kids to the centre each day.

Sam & Priscilla – They are married and have one son Jason and another baby on the way. They worked with us prior to Covid and joined us again in March of 2022. Pray for them as they welcome their new baby and as they serve our program with a passion to see kids reach their potential.

Kavishka – He comes from a single-parent home and has an older sister. He served full-time in Church ministry before joining our team and has been a great asset to our Centre. He has a lot to offer in skill and makes things fun always.

Vasanthi – She is our newest staff and yet she fits in so well it’s like she has always been with us. She is a recent university graduate and runs a cake-baking business out of her home. She has a lot to offer in the area of administration and is an excellent teacher.

This year is stacking up to be an exciting one. We have lots of plans in store and the centre is bursting at the seams with on average 80 kids per day. In our first two days of the opening for this year we registered 30 kids and on the register we have 140 kids who attend our programs. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

We have lots of visitors coming to us. Our parents will be with us in a few days from now for 4 weeks. Then March/April we have two missions teams from Westside Academy/Westside Family Fellowship serving alongside us. They always bring so much memory-making, hard work, love, and care to our Centre.

Following all of that we hope to then be making plans to itinerate a trip to Canada. It’s been more than three years since we last touched down there so it will be wonderful to reconnect with so many of you.

In closing we rejoice with the provision that was there to make 2022 such a successful year. God answered so many of the prayers that went forward. We witnessed His goodness and faithfulness. Thanks for being a part of that through your prayers and support.
