Salvation Army Service Opportunities

Westside Family Fellowship supports the ministry of the Salvation Army Food Bank in Prince George with yearly financial contributions from our missions fund.  We also encourage people (like you?) to volunteer with them.

The Salvation Army Prince George Food Bank has 3 opportunities for individuals to share their spiritual giftings.  

1. Waiting Room Ministry – The Salvation Army is seeking out local churches to fill a need that continues to grow in our community. Many people who access the food bank are down on their luck and lacking hope. We know that Jesus is the best hope giver there is. We offer a safe space for those who need help, to ask for prayer or support. We are seeking volunteers who can spare a couple hours a week to come and sit in our waiting room during our busy times, to come alongside hurting individuals and share this hope. We call this our “Waiting Room Ministry”.
2. Mural Art – Our basement at the Food Bank & Thrift Store is being renovated!! We will finally have some space to offer programs! We would like to beautify this space and ask someone who has some art skill to complete a mural. This will likely happen closer to the end of the summer. Obviously, we would love someone to donate their talent, but we also understand that this may not be viable for some people, so the rate is negotiable. Supplies will be provided.
3. Spiritual Care Provider for Pathway of Hope – With the basement being completed, we will be offering a new program come September! This program is called Pathway of Hope. It is designed to be a one to one intensive goal setting program, led by the client. There is a case worker and a spiritual care provider who will journey with the client during their time with the program. This is a paid position and will be full time or part time depending on the candidate. We are looking for a candidate with the right fit.
